Tim Sugden Motorsport (TSM), has been instrumental in many major racing projects and teams over the years. Typically people come to us to help set up new racing teams or improve an existing one. Over the past 20 years we have had great success – a few examples of which are outlined below.

JMW Motorsport

2009 saw the debut of a new team in the Le Mans Series, a debut that was to set a benchmark in GT2 racing.

Establishing JMW Motorsport, owner Jim McWhirter wanted to create an independent and passionate team based around his new Ferrari F430.

In the role as Commercial Director and Team Manager, Tim Sugden was asked to oversee the growth and development of this tight knit and focussed team.

The Essex based set up has raced mainly as a Ferrari team with the exception of 2010 where they enjoyed factory support as an Aston Martin Team.

For the past 13 seasons JMW have contested ELMS experiencing great success including, winning the championship 4 times and, finishing runner up 4 times.

At Le Mans 24 Hours, the team have appeared 13 times and in 2017 won the Pro-Am Class, with Tim signing Dries Vanthoor and Will Stevens joined by super bronze driver Rob Smith.

In 2019 the team had another outstanding run to second place, narrowly missing the victory by 36 seconds. JMW finished sixth in 2020 at Le Mans after one of the hardest races ever, still finishing second Ferrari out of 14 cars.

Bentley JMW

For 2020 Tim was delighted and very proud to secure an agreement with Bentley Motorsport for JMW to assemble a new factory supported team to contest the GT World Challenge Asia.

A whole new team was formed over the winter with established JMW staff being joined by newly recruited engineers and technicians.

2 drivers were chosen and contracted and in Andy Meyrick and Andrew Haryanto JMW were assured of a quality driver line up.

Unfortunately, due to the worldwide problems of Covid-19, the whole Asia Championship was postponed.

Strakka Racing

Initially employed as driver development coach the Strakka role quickly evolved with Tim engaged as Commercial Director.

At the time Strakka were competing at several levels within the sport from the Zanardi Strakka Kart team through to LMP2 in WEC.

Tim was pivotal in helping to develop and grow the business including new programmes in Renault 2 Litre, World Series By Renault and Renault RS01.

In 2018 following his success with GruppeM, Tim was able to introduce Strakka to Mercedes, resulting in them gaining a factory supported AMG Performance contract for the 2018/19 seasons.
