Tim Sugden Motorsport is a specialist motorsports management and consultancy company. Our aim is to provide a complete end to end service for both drivers and teams. Enabling them to benefit from our immensely successful history and global network.

With over 40 years experience in motorsport as a driver, team owner, mentor and manager, Tim has learned and experienced every aspect of the sport, allowing him to deliver a whole package service, supported by a worldwide network of contacts.

With such an in depth knowledge, Tim and his team are able to help any driver.

From individuals starting out in karting to paid professionals looking for opportunities to develop their career. Working closely with each driver, we develop a bespoke strategy and plan that is tailored to their goals and aspirations in order to achieve the very best from each individual.

We undertake every aspect of the role from career planning, team selection and contract negotiation to making sure the season runs smoothly and maintaining relationships both on and off the track.

In addition, we are able to handle other important aspects of a driver’s career such as PR and social media management.

Tim’s unique skill set means that he can work closely with drivers in all areas of their to ensure they are given the very best tools to succeed both on and off the track.

On track Tim can provide driver coaching, simulator sessions, race weekend support and a sports psychology service.

Off track we aim to offer a complete service for the business aspect of motorsport and our commercial department can assist drivers with sourcing sponsorship, creating effective sponsorship proposals and negotiating contracts all with the aim of helping get the deal over the line.

ABOUT TIM SUGDEN

Tim first read about karting aged 9, the article said you could start racing when you were 12 so Tim started saving and bought his first kart at the age of 11.

Karting was a great grounding, Tim winning his first national championship at the age of 16 and becoming Captain of the British team.

After successful seasons in Formula Ford and Formula Renault as Factory Swift driver, Tim raced in Formula 3000 before getting his big break when he was selected in 1990 to be part of the BMW Junior team run by Prodrive in the BTCC. There then followed 6 fantastic years in the BTCC as Factory Driver for BMW, Toyota and Opel.

1997 saw Tim make the switch to GT racing. In his first year with EMKA racing he raced a GT2 Porsche, winning the British GT Championship. Tim then proceeded on a magnificent run to claim the GT1 titles in both 1998 and 1999.

Driving the iconic McLaren F1 GTR Tim finished an amazing fourth overall in the 24 Hours of Le Mans whilst also the runner up title in the FIA GT Championship.

In 2000 Tim began full time FIA International GT racing. 2001 was another year of FIA before 2002 when the team returned to the British Championship and finished second in the series by just 2 points.

In 2003 EMKA returned to the FIA GT Series with the Porsche GT3RS scoring 2 wins and finishing fourth in the points. Tim also returned to Le Mans to drive one of the works TVR’S.

2004 was a brilliant year racing in the American Le Mans Series and British GT Championships. Tim competed in 29 races finishing in the top 6, 21 times with 13 podiums including 5 wins, 5 second places and 3 third places.

For 2005 Tim raced with factory Porsche team GruppeM in the FIA GT Championship. Tim also competed with GruppeM racing in the Le Mans Endurance Series and in selected ALMS races with J3 racing.

In all he had 17 top 6 finishes from 22 races, including 9 podiums.

This success lead to Tim winning the Porsche Cup, which is awarded annually by Porsche to the most successful driver of Porsche racing cars across all series worldwide, an accolade that Tim is most proud of.

For 2006 Tim moved to a pair of the new Ferrari F430 GTC cars with Virgo in the Le Mans Series and JMB- GruppeM in the FIA Championship. Pole positions and wins were achieved in both series with Tim also contesting Le Mans in a Ferrari 550 GT1 car.

2007 brought another Championship win driving for GruppeM in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

In addition, Tim contested many of the major GT races in Europe and America including Daytona, Spa and Sebring.

In 2008 Tim again contested all the major GT races including Daytona, Sebring, Le Mans, Spa 24 and LMS.

Tim also took guest drives in Grand-Am and FIA, all this in addition to another year of Porsche Cup Asia where he finished third in the series.

In 2009 Tim contested another year of the Porsche Asia Cup plus all the major GT races including Le Mans in June with JMW Motorsport. He also competed at the Rolex Daytona 24 Hour Race for J. Lowe racing.

The year ended with Tim as runner up in the Porsche Asia Cup, missing the Championship win by just 1 point!

2010 saw Tim contesting all the major GT races and once again driving for JMW Motorsport at Le Mans.

In addition to this he drove for Thunder Asia in the Japanese GT Championship in a Moser GT3.

2011 was a great year finishing second at the Daytona 24 plus contesting many international GT events including Le Mans where he finished fourth in class in a Ferrari GTE.

In later years Tim returned to racing competitively in 2017 taking second place in the Blancpain Asia Silver Cup.

These highlights of Tim’s career show just a few snapshots of the success he has enjoyed.

In addition to driving, Tim has always been involved in other aspects of the sport. Running his own team for 6 years, Tim Sugden Motorsport contested Vauxhall Junior, Formula Ford, Formula Renault, British GT and the Clio Cup. Along the way victories were gained in all series including the Clio Cup Championship.

Driver Management began in 2001 with James Walker. Tim now looks after the careers of several drivers from up and coming superstars to established professionals.

Finally, add to this a ten year period of running the bearacingdriver.com scholarship with notable winners such as Rob Huff who went on to be 3 times World Touring Car Champion and, Alan Morrison who went on to be factory touring car driver for Honda in the BTCC.Tim really has been involved in all facets of this wonderful sport.
